Ban Gu 班固 (32 - 92) is the main author of this extensive historyoftheFormer Han Dynasty, beginning with the life of it‘s founder Liu Bang 劉邦(256/247 -195B.C.) in about 210 B.C. and ending with the fall of Wang Mang 王莽 (45B.C. - A.D. 23)inA.D. 23. The Hanshu (Documents of the Han) employs the samestructure as Sima Qians司馬遷(145 - 86 B.C.) Shiji 史記.
